Greenstone

(Pounamu) also known as jade is a hard and valued stone often found in the South Island.  It has strong spiritual status for Maori and was originally used by them to make tools and weapons because of its innate hardness.  It is renowned for its beauty and variety of colour and it today available for pendants, earrings and bracelets in traditional and modern designs.
